The Light Ark
(Released October 24, 2021)
The Light Ark is a place where a new humanity will be born, free from greed, narcissism, corruption and hate. In this ark we are preserving our respect and love for each other, our deeper understanding of the meaning of Life and the apocalyptic role of the Universe and Nature. There is no time to spare, the world is spiralling down and is asking us to go along. The Light Ark is a safe place for preserving our Humanity, it’s a place of Healing, a place of Love, a place for Creativity and Joy.
The Light Ark was made using the Make Noise Dark Easel modular synthesis system. I’d like to thank the Make Noise team and all those artists who inspire me every single day with their work and humility. Thank you to all the people who have been following my work, I hope it shines a little light in your own personal path.
This album is dedicated to my parents Zafiris and Theodora, my sister Kiki, to my beloved Samantha and our little boy Aster.
Serge Feedback Systems
(Released March 11, 2021)
This album was made using a Serge Modular System during the whole year of 2020, while I was studying feedback systems and cybernetics theory. My goal was to explore these theoretic approaches and see how I can implement their various applications in creating sound. In each system I was trying to inject chaotic elements into the flow of electricity and then search for a place of equilibrium where the sound is evolving in interesting ways without my further interference. When I managed to create a system that fulfils my aesthetic values I let it run for a long time and recorded live various takes in single continuous performances. I chose the best live performance for each track of the album.
This album is inspired by the cybernetic music of composer Ronald Kayn, the feedback works of Eliane Radigue and Todd Barton's feedback patches.
Selected Modular Works, Vol.1
(Released December 4, 2020)
After 3 albums with his own electronic compositions, Thanos Fotiadis decided to collect his best unreleased tracks made with his modular system in order to create an album that covers all his different approaches in his sound-crafting. There are minimal ambient tracks that invite deep listening, surprisingly melodic moments, compositions with field recordings, detailed micro-sounds and aggressive techno experiments. The 'Selected Modular Works' are the best way to get to know Thanos' work as an electronic composer.
Five Triptychs For Upheaval
(Released October 24, 2020)
Drone is Time. It takes you everywhere you want to go.
Three sound sources will guide you there.
They might be whispering words.
Or just walking quietly there with you, unnoticed.
They might be noises from an invisible world.
Or rhythmic pulses paving your path.
If you let go of your judgmental self, you’ll be able to follow.
And if you follow, you’ll notice a higher realm, made out of sound entities.
I call that an Upheaval.
The album was made completely with a modular system and a Soma Ether.
Without the use of drugs. (easy way out)
You can use the music for meditation.
Or to ruin a party.
This album was originally released the Plaża Zachodnia label (Poland).
Thanx to Maciek for believing.
Instrument Of Hope
(Released March 30, 2020)
'Instrument of Hope' is an album completely based on the piano. Since I was a little kid the piano was always there for me through the most lonely and difficult moments, like a good friend. This is an album made entirely using the sound of my piano. For processing I used my modular system and various other effects.
In these difficult times of isolation and turmoil, my piano is here to give me hope. It's a blessing. And I hope that by listening you can share these feelings of hope and gratitude with me.
Five Nocturnes For Immersion
(Released October 22, 2019)
"Five Nocturnes For Immersion" is an extremely personal album. It was born from an intensive battle with shadows and boundaries I’ve set for myself. It’s a triumph of human will, an upward move, an epiphany.
Musically, it’s my first attempt in sound design and electronic synthesis. There’s a modular synthesizer system programmed to battle chaotic patterns, field recordings that caress an old piano played at low speed, spooky drones for a night in, prayers that are being whispered by ghosts, and many other experiments with sound.
I recommend listening with a good pair of headphones. If you try to focus on each sound, this album can be used for meditation and even have light psychedelic effects for people who have a long experience with meditation.
