The Story So Far
Since my teenage years, I’ve been trying to play the guitar, cause obviously the piano was taking most of my time. All of the bands I used to play wanted me to be a keyboard player but I remember when my first band “Hilia Louloudia” (A Thousand Flowers) was taking a break from rehearsing, I would stay in the studio to play guitar as loud as possible. Later, when I had the freedom to redefine myself in the Netherlands, I answered to an ad from a noise-rock band who was looking for a bass player. I borrowed a bass from a friend, practised like a maniac for a week and then I went to the audition. With Labasheeda we played an amazing amount of shows, we toured the UK twice and Czech Republic once which was probably my favourite experience on the road, to see us playing in small towns in completely full venues with people really into it and passionate, something I missed so much in the Netherlands. Then it came another ad from this friendly Italian with the voice of a god, and suddenly I found myself in a trio that could make music almost in a mystic way, without talking. We had an amazing run of shows in the Netherlands and Italy, and two albums I’m very proud of, even if the somewhere on the way it broke us to be involved with a corrupted music industry. Our honest emotions were not made for this terrible world lost in vanity and greed. But we preserved our friendships and that is for me the most important thing. Then came other bands, Minus the Tiger, the most fun of it all. I got to mix my guitar noise with electronics and hang out with the most gifted people, it was an honour. Then I stumbled upon these crazy guys who were an impro-punk band (!) and I connected with their freedom of expression. They allowed me to think completely out of the box and let my body express itself in the wildest way imaginable. I became a drummer for Larmschutz. Not a good one. But a free one. And somehow the magic of life has given me the opportunity to play in the main hall of the legendary Paradiso as a drummer with my good friend Cashmyra who wrote the wildest songs in Dutch.
In a parallel universe I participated in many many projects as a pianist. Foremost my dear Cantatori del Duomo, the choir I’ve been accompanying for more than 12 years. We played everywhere and each show was a delight. Then the musical group LIZ which offered me a chance to enjoy the most ironic moment of my life. Be a part of a musical production. Something that I never dreamed it was possible. I’ll never forget our production of Monty Python’s ‘Spamalot’ musical. Such a genius play.
Below you can enjoy a few photo’s of my performances with all these projects.
