‘The Healing Labyrinth’
The video from this stand-out track from my latest album “The Light Ark” album is out now. A complex analogue oscillator creating a labyrinth of frequencies is intertwined with a piano loop that symbolizes healing.
Cybernetic Music: ‘Sirius’
Working on feedback systems I stumbled upon an evolving environment which seemed that it had its own intelligence. Inspired by the work of Ronald Kayn in cybernetic music, I’ve recorded a excerpt on tape and then I re-recorded it in half-speed. Video coded by Audiofudge. Made in Hydra using various visual feedback techniques and then mixed with my video of the tape recorder playing the track half speed. I'm very proud of this. Enjoy!
Farewell (for Paula)
This track is dedicated to the memory of our beloved Paula, who we've lost too soon, one day before Christmas 2020. She was a giving, warm and loving human being and we will miss her. I was working on this music while being there with her on her last days and I hope that wherever she is now, she would be happy to hear it. I filmed these images from the window of her room, while it was (fittingly) raining outside. Rest in peace Paula, every end is a new beginning. We love you.
‘Nemesis’
This is an emotional one. My reaction to hearing that the Greek neo-nazi party was officially declared illegal as a criminal organisation, after a 5-and-a-half year trial, who started after the cold-blood murder of Pavlos Fyssas from a neo-nazist member of the organisation. The battle for justice of his mother Magda Fyssa inspired the whole nation and represents the battle of all humanity against hatred and racism. The battle against the darkness in ourselves and in others. Together we fail, together we rise. We need to put our differences aside and work together against this common goal. This track can be found in my ‘Selected Modular Works, vol.1’ album. Video made by my good friend Satty Verbart.
‘The Disintegration Blues’
Full home-studio performance of my track which is an ode to William Basinski's "The Disintegration Loops".
Bach Prelude in Fm
(for my beloved piano teacher)
At the end of a wonderful day of recordings at the Willem Twee studio in Den Bosch, I took the time to turn on my camera and record a slow version of my favourite Bach Prelude in F minor, dedicated to the memory of my dear beloved piano teacher Filippina Filippova that left us last week. The sustain pedal started cracking during the recording, which I thought it was a good sign of how I felt at that moment. I'm grateful for what she has given me and I want to thank her wholeheartedly.
